Bands will take the main stage throughout the event.
Touch of Gold - Saturday May 24th, 4-7 p.m. THE TOUCH OF GOLD BAND is out of Victoria, Texas and they play the music you love to hear! Revisit once again the 50's, 60's and 70's as you sing along with Doc and have your feet dance along with Fred on lead guiter, Greg on bass guiter, Martin on his "favorite" guitar and Mike on Drums.
Doug Moreland - Saturday May 24th, 7:45-11 p.m. A Texas boy from the Davis Mountains area. In 2000, a guitar-playing Doug and a "fiddle-playing dog" named Holly-peno hosted the Willie Nelson picnic and played to a sold out crowd. In 2003 the duo appeard on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He lost his companion in 2004 and decided to put together a "real band". By the end of 2005, the Doug Moreland Show was in full swing as a 5-piece band; fiddle, guitar, upright bass, drums and piano. The band has performed at numerous festivals including the MusicFest in Steamboat Springs. In 2007, Doug received the Will Rogers Cowboy Award for the Western Music Male Performer of the Year. That same year, he also won the Entertainer of the Year at the Texas Music Awards. In his music you will hear echoes of some of his musical heroes; a fiddle lick that recalls western-swing king Bob Wills, an off-kilter viewpoint worthy of Lyle Lovett, a wry line that could've been lifted bodily out of a Jimmy Buffett song. When asked "What kind of music do you play?" he doesn't have an answer. He can't be pigeonholed but if you wanted to compare him to another artist, perhaps the best one would be another singer-songwriter who did it his own way, the brilliant Roger Miller. "When you hear his music, there is no doubt that his talent has no boarders." After all of this, if you are thinking that DOUG MORELAND is just another run-of-the-mill Texas musician, you would do well to check out the music/video page of www.dougmoreland.com.
Stuart Mann and the Statesboro Revue- Sunday May 25th, 4-7 p.m. Mann has been a fixture on the Austin country scene for several years with his mix of laid-back blues-style country with a hearty dose of rock 'n'roll for good measure. His time performing with southern rock band 5 Mile in Austin clearly still influences his music style although these days you hear a tinge of his personal influences, such as Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings, in his songwriting. Make no mistake, though, while he may have the soul of an older singer, his style and his sound is similar to groups like Reckless Kelly or Cross Canadian Ragweed and there is an eerie resemblance to The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash's lead vocalist, Mark Stuart. Mann's seven-song album "Stuck in Here" which was released in 2006 showcases his versatility and thoughtfulness in his writing. Although he leans toward more thoughtful, slower ballads such as "Brink of Heartache" and "Please Come Home" Mann will mix up his show with a few upbeat country-rock songs and will cover anything from Cash to the Stones.
Two Tons of Steel - Sunday May 25th, 7:45-11 p.m. Texas band Two Tons of Steel might be described as equal parts Elvis Presley and Elvis Costello, with a liberal dose of Buddy Holly and a dollop of The Ramones. It's a one-of-a-kind sound that bandleader and frontman Kevin Geil likes to call "countrybilly." From the dance halls in Texas to the National Theatre in Havana, Cuba, to the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, and featured in video documentaries at both the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville and in Imax Theaters world-wide, Two Tons of Steel knows that good music is what fans want to hear....and that is exactly what Two Tons delivers. Live, in recording studios and on the big screen, Two Tons of Steel has combined the unique sounds of rock and country creating music with a passionate punch. Two Tons of Steel is an institution at Texas' famed Gruene Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texs, where its annual summer series draws 12,000 fans from all around the country.
